Frequently Asked Questions
-
- Overview: This course teaches you how to operate a counterbalanced forklift, the most common type with forks at the front and a weight at the back to balance loads. It’s hands-on and theory-based, perfect for warehouse or construction jobs.
- Skills Gained: You’ll learn to maneuver the forklift safely, handle loads without tipping, and perform pre-use checks to spot issues like worn tires or faulty brakes and many others like fueling.
-
- Our course is about 2 hours long and provides you with a certificate upon successful completion.
-
- Target Audience: Anyone operating a counterbalanced forklift—like warehouse workers, delivery folks, or construction crews—needs this training to stay safe and legal.
- Supervisors Included: Even bosses overseeing forklift use should take it to understand the risks and enforce proper habits, keeping the whole team on track.
- Legal Angle: OSHA mandates it for anyone driving these machines at work. Beyond compliance, it’s about not dropping a pallet on someone’s foot—or worse—so it’s a no-brainer for high-risk roles.
-
- Core Topics: You’ll master forklift controls, load handling, and how to keep the machine stable—crucial since counterbalanced models can tip if you’re not careful with weight distribution.
- Safety Focus: It dives into spotting hazards, like uneven floors or overhead obstacles, and teaches pre-shift inspections to catch mechanical problems early. Real-world scenarios make it stick.
- Practical Skills: Expect to practice lifting, stacking, and driving in tight spaces. Some courses even touch on basic maintenance, so you’re not just a driver but a smart operator too.
- For rough terrain forklift training, please refer to our “Forklift Workshop for Construction” course.
-
- Our course is about $99.99.
- Value Factor: It’s an investment—cheaper than a workplace accident fine—and employers might foot the bill if it’s for a job. For individuals, it’s a small price for a skill that opens doors in logistics or manufacturing.
-
- Load Capacity: B1 forklifts handle up to 5,000 kg (about 11,000 lbs), while B2 models tackle heavier loads, from 5,000 kg to 15,000 kg (up to 33,000 lbs). It’s a big jump in lifting power.
- Design and Use: B1s are nimble, suited for smaller warehouses or lighter tasks, whereas B2s are beefier, built for industrial settings like big factories or construction sites with hefty materials.
- Training Impact: Both fall under counterbalanced training, but B2 operators might need extra time to master handling larger loads and ensuring stability. The core skills stay the same—just scaled up for B2’s bigger beasts.
