Effective Use of PPE

Course Overview

Workers depend on their Personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect not only themselves but their livelihoods in hazardous work environments. Choosing the right PPE and how to use and maintain it is outlined in this PPE training for employees.

Course Topics

• The basics of hand protection, along with pairing the right PPE for your specific task.
• How to properly protect your knees while kneeling or working in irregular environments.
• How to avoid back injury, and the importance of wearing prescribed back braces.
• Eye protection, and what to do if your visual PPE impairs your ability to work.
• How to recognize an unsafe auditory environment, and finding appropriate hearing protection to mitigate long-term hearing damage.
• The importance of proper breathing protection. Surgical masks don’t usually cut it, folks!
• The basics of proper head protection.​

Online Assessment

Students answer questions on the PPE online course material and are required to obtain a minimum passing mark of 80%. The student will have two additional opportunities to pass if required.

Completion Certificate

Following successful completion of this course, the student will have the opportunity to download and print a certificate of completion.
